Wonderful

Location was great. The style of the Hotel was what I wanted. Good breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. In a lovely quiet location but walking distance to everything. I thought it was good value. Clean room and beds were comfy.

Everything was good room a bit small but that's to be expected in the style of the hotel.

Very Good

Small comfortable hotel in excellent location to Sloane Square, Mayfair and Cleveland Clinic. We had a minor problem with our bedroom but the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We would definitely revisit this hotel.

Needed somewhere close to Victoria for that it was very good. Ten mins walk from Buckingham Palace too

Restful and quiet Tophsm’s provided a comfortable home base after our busy schedule

The location was central to many walkable sites and London attractions. The Victoria Station hub was especially close. The hotel itself is immaculate and well appointed with a small restaurant in the lobby although we did not try it. O

The lift was convenient but our room was positioned at the back of this historical building down a narrow flight of stairs behind a heavy fire door in what was probably a servants corridor or stairwell. Ideally we would have preferred a room without the added stairs perhaps this should be disclosed when room is assigned.

A nice relaxing one night stay with a comfortable room and friendly staff.

The breakfast room was very nice and relaxing. The location of the hotel was in a quiet area just two minutes from Victoria station with good bus and underground links.

Some cooked items for breakfast rather than just a continental breakfast.

Our room was excellent . Other bits need improving .

It was my sisters 60 th birthday . They up graded her to a suit . Lovely room really pleased with outside space too . Thank you for upgrading her .

We knew it was a continental breakfast but this was beyond basic . Ok if you wanted a bowl of tomatoe and cucumber . Where were all the lovely danish pastry’s. Also staff need to know how to give good customer service and at least look at you when you check out and ask did you enjoy your stay . Also more enthusiasm needed by staff at breakfast time .

Upon walking into the premises, the receptionist greeted us with an abrupt “Yes ?”, as if wondering what we were doing there, after hearing a guest complain to her about a bloody pillow that was in his room. The condition of the room was poor, we’ve stayed in better two star hotels...cracked floor tiles in lift, stained curtains, chrome eroded off bathroom tap, hole in bed base, damp stain around air vent in ceiling, nothing in the so called “mini bar” except about five or six milk jiggers, paint off walls and edges of table, no wardrobe, just a recess in the wall with a badly worn wooden rail, stained bedside table lamp, worn leather seat at writing desk, and on pulling back the quilt on the bed to settle down for the night, found black pubic hair on bottom sheet. I have taken photos to back up everything (except for the pubic hair) that I’ve mentioned here as evidence. What amazed me was the fact that on the reception desk was a tariff board, and apparently, the style of room that we had booked was “allegedly” £430 for the night. Are you absolutely kidding me. Not even close to what it should have been. Sub £100 would have been nearer. We were so impressed with pictures on the Booking.com site, which by our reckoning must have been taken when the hotel reopened after a major refurbishment in 2008. What we saw had no resemblance to the photos on the web site, and I’m now feeling wary about booking anything via booking.com in the future, at least, not until we’ve done some research. As you can probably tell, we won’t be going back to this hotel again.

Location is perfect. Breakfast was OK. Room and bathroom were sufficiently spacious. Price was not bad either.

Based on the previous reviews on Booking ('Faulty Towers') we did not arrive with high exceptions. Comments are valid, but as we came prepared it also put a little smile on my face and to be fair ... we survived ;-)

I wouldn’t pay for breakfast as I spent £20 for two people and we only had to small rolls as there was nothing edable there. Small slices of ham and cheese. No milk. No tea or coffee. Waste of £20.

Simple but good breakfast with helpful kitchen staff.

Everything was worn down, mattresses broken, dirty carpets and walls with holes, broken mirrors, safetybox broken, air condition sounded like a train rolling. When asking a question about help with service of cleaning the room the receptionists laughed in my face saying that housekeeping staff don't speak english. We often heard staff arguing out loud with each other. Most of the day there was only hot water in both taps. When reported nothing was done. We had to get water in the kitchen. The phone in the reception rang through out the night keeping us awake.

And I also show my reservation Number to her.But she suddenly very angery and voice very loud.I am so surprising her.This is 4 star hotel? 2)As I check in,the room is -1 floor with humidity smell,even as air conditioner keep work.Also,the wash room have many small problems.

The location is the only good quality of this hotel. Run away if you are considering staying here. Absolute nightmare

Everything: this is as far away from a 4 Star hotel as you can get. 1. Dirty: the carpets, walls, sheets and pillow were all filthy. When I asked for new sheets, I got ones with different stain patterns. 2. Many things broken: shower taps, phones, in room safe, fan. We heard from other guests they did not have AC that worked. 3. Beds were of the worst quality with springs that poked into my back. The pillows were very thin and lumpy....I’m sure they were 20+ years old and dirty. 4. Shower had broken taps and we could only get very hot water out of them so taking a shower was difficult. We ran out of toilet paper and the manager told me to take a roll out of the public washroom on the main floor. 5. TV only worked intermittently 6. Elevator broke and had to carry our bags up very narrow stairs 7. Breakfast is barely acceptable and the only hot item is boiled eggs. They don’t have very many staff members so getting coffee or toast takes at least 10-15mins. 8. Hotel staff is very unfriendly and clearly don’t care. Everyday there was a line of guests complaining about one thing or another and they just didn’t give a crap. After sleeping in our room and talking to them about all the issues they refused to movement us (probably because these were issues with all the rooms). Often the people at the desk were on their phones and not paying attention. 9. Many lights did not work. Plug plates broken, cannot get more than one key for your room. 10. Toiletries were of the cheapest quality - I’ve gotten better soap from a motel. It just doesn’t lather! Considering the ridiculous amount of money they charge and the description of the hotel, I believe my stay here was based on false advertising. Other than the location their is no redeeming quality for this hotel. Do NOT stay here.

Check in was a disaster. Our lower floor room was small and dingy, did not look like the photo on our booking. They showed us another room which had water dripping from ceiling. Third room was comfortable but had no cold water available- the cold tap was hot water most of time. The shower had a very loose cold tap and no water came out. The receptionist kept us waiting implying that our room was not ready (at 3.30pm) when apparently it was. She did not apologise and was very offhand. There is only one good comment to make of Topham’s is location

At check in had to argue yes argue to get the type of room we had booked and paid for 6 months in advance, also during this time two other guests were demanding a change of room Room was not clean, nothing like the website pictures, the spare pillows gave the appearance of previously use, and after being out all day the next day, the room had not been made up Breakfast staff were fine, but breakfast not appetising Wanted to see the manager but on reading trip adviser realised that most guests would not be returning to this hotel, so didn’t bother

The location

The room was tired looking and in need of a makeover. Some lights didnt work. The furniture was rickety and would have collapsed if you werent careful. The bathroom celing looked like it was about to give way. It had obviously had water leaking through from above and was all brown and flaky. At one point we came back to find water all over the toilet seat and the floor. There was also a broken double socket, which was potentially dangerous as the wiring was showing. The worst thing was the pillows - there were 2 spare ones in the cupboard without slips and they were filthy and stained. We asked for others and were offered 1 as they didnt have any spares because they were so busy! The carpet was also badly stained and sticky in parts. The staff were not very helpful. None appeared to be to understand or speak English, so it was difficult to communicate.

The location and value were very good. Nice breakfast (with cappuccinos if you ask). Quiet location but close to a lot of things. Good bathroom etc.

Bedding was a bit weird, sheets didn't tuck in so every morning was a knot of sheets and covers. But they put it all back together ...
